Sports Basement was founded in 1998 as a single weekend-open San Francisco warehouse shop and has grown to 15 fully stocked locations across California. The chain carries brands including Cannondale, Surly, Breezer, Aventon, 45NRTH, and Teravail alongside broader outdoor and apparel inventory, with in-house bike and ski shops at multiple locations. Beyond retail, it operates a rentals program, hosts over 5,000 community events annually (roughly 20 per day), and redistributes 10% of earnings to local schools and nonprofits through its Basementeers membership program.
