cyclingcompass is an independent, free directory of every local bike shop we can find, built so riders can support the shops in their own neighborhoods.
Why we built this
Local bike shops are the backbone of cycling. They build your first bike, fix the flat you can't, and know which trail is rideable after a week of rain. But finding the right one shouldn't mean digging through ten different manufacturer store-locators, each showing only its own dealers.
cyclingcompass pulls every one of those networks together, plus open map data and public business listings, into a single place you can search by city, state, or the brands a shop carries. Free to use, no account required.
What makes it different
Most directories are either thin (a handful of paying advertisers) or stale (a one-time scrape that's never updated). We take a different approach: we aggregate many independent sources, keep each one's raw data, and merge them into a single trustworthy record per shop. When several sources agree, confidence goes up; when they conflict, we can tell.
The result is a directory that aims for completeness without sacrificing accuracy, and one that's transparent about where its data comes from. You can read the full methodology if you want the details.
