Question 1

Is Green Bay Cycles currently open for business?

Accepted Answer

No. Green Bay Cycles closed its doors permanently on February 17, 2026, after 15 years in operation in Winnetka, IL.

Question 2

What services did Green Bay Cycles provide?

Accepted Answer

The shop provided bike sales, service, and repairs for racers, enthusiasts, and families. Head mechanic Larry Faulkner, a retired US Navy aircraft mechanic with 20 years of experience, handled mechanical work. The shop also functioned as a community hub, organizing women's road rides and offering expert advice to customers of all ages and ability levels.

Question 3

Did Green Bay Cycles support any community causes?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The shop was committed to improving cycling access for all, regardless of age or ability, and partnered with Chicago French Bulldog Rescue. The shop also served as a regional distribution hub for holiday bike gifts and organized community cycling events, including a ladies' road ride led by co-owner Pam Faulkner.

Question 4

Why did Green Bay Cycles close?

Accepted Answer

The owners, Larry and Pam Faulkner, retired while still young enough to enjoy their next chapter. The building was placed under contract by the landlord, and the lease ended March 1, 2026. Additionally, the cycling industry faced sustained upheaval from COVID, economic uncertainty, tariffs, and increased online shopping competition, making the retail environment increasingly difficult to navigate.
