Question 1

What service options does Montebello Bicycles offer for regular bikes versus e-bikes?

Accepted Answer

The shop offers three main tune-up tiers: Basic Service ($50, includes safety check, chain lube, and brake/gear check), Standard Service ($85, adds wheel truing, derailleur adjustment, and bearing work), and E-Bike Service ($100, with adjustments tailored to the extra weight and power of electric bikes). E-Bike Service is required for e-bikes rather than the Basic or Standard options.

Question 2

Who owns and operates Montebello Bicycles?

Accepted Answer

Montebello Bicycles is rider-owned and operated. Aldo, a longtime Montebello resident and bike enthusiast, founded the shop and brings experience from top bike shops in Los Angeles and Orange County, with expertise spanning vintage cruisers to the latest e-bikes with electronic shifting. Co-owner Beatriz won the 2008 U23 National Criterium Championship and specializes in troubleshooting and connecting customers with the cycling community.

Question 3

What types of repairs can the shop handle?

Accepted Answer

The shop's team has over 35 years of combined experience and is equipped to handle any aspect of cycling, from simple tune-ups to complex repairs. Specific capabilities mentioned include work on vintage cruisers, classic ten-speeds, high-end road bikes with electronic shifting and disc brakes, and e-bikes.

Question 4

Is the Basic Service available for all bikes?

Accepted Answer

The Basic Service ($50) is not available for new bikes, boxed bikes, or e-bikes. New and boxed bikes require the Standard Service ($85) to ensure proper setup, and e-bikes require the dedicated E-Bike Service ($100).
