Question 1

Does Stash Cycles offer custom bike builds, and how does the process work?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Stash Cycles specializes in custom mountain bike builds using a visual builder tool where customers can spec frames, components, and assembly details. After submission, the shop's technicians validate compatibility, source parts, hand-assemble and tune the bike in-house, then ship it ready to ride. The shop also offers partial builds for customers who already own some components, and frame-plus-shock options for those building incrementally.

Question 2

What is Stash Cycles' history, and how has the shop evolved?

Accepted Answer

Stash Cycles began as a one-man mobile service operating from a van, emphasizing direct owner-mechanic relationships. In 2023, the shop opened a physical storefront in Bellingham's Silver Beach neighborhood. As of November 2025, Stash Cycles transitioned away from retail to focus exclusively on custom mountain bike and wheel builds, coinciding with the launch of its visual custom bike builder platform.

Question 3

Does Stash Cycles offer ongoing support after a bike purchase?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The shop provides lifetime support on all builds, including questions, adjustments, and maintenance help. All builds are assembled and tuned by hand in the Bellingham shop, and the team validates every component choice for compatibility before ordering to prevent issues down the line.

Question 4

What brands does Stash Cycles work with for custom builds?

Accepted Answer

Stash Cycles maintains direct relationships with boutique frame brands and component manufacturers, allowing the shop to source from a curated selection. The shop carries 45nrth, Intense, Salsa, Shimano, and Teravail among its primary brands, though the custom builder process allows access to a broader network of specialty suppliers.

Question 5

Does Stash Cycles build custom wheels?

Accepted Answer

Yes. In addition to full and partial bike builds, Stash Cycles offers custom wheel builds as part of its core services.
