Owen Cyclery opened in 1973 under Tom Owen, a mechanic who founded the Chattanooga Bicycle Club in 1967 to grow cycling and bike safety. The shop is located in Hixson, north Chattanooga, and has been operated by Erik Hunt and Brian Lowery since 2002. The shop carries road, mountain, commuter, and kids' bikes, plus gear and accessories, and offers trade-in service for used bikes. Beyond retail, Owen Cyclery organizes club rides and annual events including 3 State 3 Mountain and the Sequatchie Valley Century, and supports community causes including providing bikes for underprivileged kids and blood drives.
