About
Northern Lights Maine was founded in 1974 when Tom Upham and his wife Judy decided to start a business after witnessing the Northern Lights from Jay Hill. The company began selling wood stoves and outdoor equipment (skis, sailboats, kayaks, canoes) from Wilton in 1975, eventually relocating to Farmington. In 1994, employees Marty Farnum and Todd Richard became partners and moved the company to downtown Farmington, later expanding to a permanent location at 639 Wilton Road. The shop carries Kona, Salsa, Specialized, 45NRTH, Teravail, Shimano, and SRAM, along with heating equipment and installation services.
