Founded in 1976 by Steve and Melisa Morales to serve the Nordic skiing community alongside the American Birkebeiner race, New Moon added bike sales and service in the late 1980s as mountain biking grew. Now co-owned by Joel Harrison and Chris Young (both staff since the 1990s), the shop operates two locations: the main store in Hayward, WI, and New Moon North at Base Camp, Mt. Telemark in Cable, serving both XC skiers and cyclists in Wisconsin's Hayward/Cable area. It carries Specialized, Giant, Kona, Pivot, Surly, 45NRTH, and Teravail, with services including custom insole fitting, drivetrain tuning, race prep, ski waxing and fitting, and rentals at both locations.
