About
Founded in 1996, Neighborhood Bike Works operates a youth education program teaching bike repair and offering youth the chance to earn a bike, alongside Mel's Community Bike Shop where adults can purchase refurbished bikes and used parts or use tools during DIY repair hours. Led by Executive Director Jessi West and shop manager Aaron Werner (a former messenger and Bike Church volunteer since 2004), the organization combines youth mentorship with adult repair access in Philadelphia.
