About
Founded in 2008 by CEO Jim Gardner, who began fixing bikes for people experiencing homelessness in a downtown San Jose park, Good Karma Bikes is a nonprofit second-hand shop that has served over 65,000 people. The shop repairs donated bikes: half are sold to fund the mission, and half are given to youth, low-income families, those experiencing homelessness, people in recovery, returning citizens, and refugees. Beyond retail, Good Karma operates a Park Tool School program, free affinity repair clinics, mobile repair clinics at city events, and Women's Night and Youth & Family Programs; it has never turned anyone away for financial reasons.
