Free Range Cycles has been woman-owned since 1997 and is located in Seattle's Fremont neighborhood just off the Burke Gilman trail. The shop specializes in steel bikes of the utilitarian wide-tire variety. Free Range carries Surly, Wilde and Soma bikes and focuses on serving commuters, bike packers, cycle tourists, and adventurers of all kinds. Services include full repair, wheel building, custom builds, and bike rentals; current owner Shawna took over in 2018 from founder Kathleen Emry and leads a team of mechanics with expertise in gravel bikes, metal fender installation, and dynamo installs.
