Chain Reaction Bicycles opened February 1, 1980, in Los Altos, CA, and has maintained the same ownership and management throughout its 45-year history. The shop carries Trek and Electra e-bikes, along with name-brand options from Giant, Specialized, and Aventon. Services include general repairs (with a CR Care program for bikes sold in-house), e-bike service for legal California Class 1, 2, and 3 models, and tire and tube installation; the shop declines service on non-street-legal e-bikes and publishes educational content on tire-change technique.
