About
Bucephalus Bikes opened in Evanston in 2009 as a family-owned shop committed to supporting all kinds of riders: from novices to experienced cyclists: with outstanding service and sustainable repair practices. The shop specialized in refurbishing older and well-loved bikes, reselling them at reasonable prices, and offered full service repairs, tune-ups, and overhauls for bicycles of every vintage and condition. Beyond the shop, founder Alejandro Añón and his family lived car-free for over 25 years and actively advocated for bicycles as primary transportation, serving on Evanston's transportation committee and working with local advocacy groups. Bucephalus Bikes closed on December 31, 2025.
