Founded in 1979 by Forrest Ridgway in a Des Moines basement, Bike World has grown to four locations (Clive, Ames, Urbandale, West Des Moines) serving central Iowa with Trek, Cannondale, Surly, Electra, Gazelle, 45NRTH, and Teravail. The shop offers online ordering with in-store pickup, rentals, and ride support most weekends April: August. Bike World has been an official RAGBRAI shop since the program began and supports local clubs, charity rides, and trails throughout the region.
