Founded in 1980 by Rick Kern, The Bicycle Hangar operated from a 300-square-foot original location before moving to its current expansive Brooks Street building in 1990: deliberately named for its airplane-hangar proportions. Now run by Kern's son Peter and his wife Hailey, the shop carries Giant and LIV bikes including e-bikes and BMX, and operates Missoula's largest rental fleet (acoustic and electric bikes). All new bikes sold include free tune-ups for life, and the expanded service department handles all makes and models.
