The Sqweaky Wheel opened in March 2022 to fill a service void in Martinsville, Indiana, after the owner: a retired U.S. Army cyclist who developed a passion for cycling while stationed abroad: returned to the town and found no local repair shop. The shop carries Bike Friday custom folding bikes, Reid e-bikes, Cruzbike recumbents, and KHS models, with in-house wheel truing and building, ultrasonic bearing cleaning, and custom orders available. Beyond retail and repair, the shop is deeply embedded in local community life: it partners with Cycling Without Age to provide free bike rides to seniors and people in care facilities, co-locates with the U.S. American Heroes Flag Shop and local honey and bag vendors, and is planning no-drop community rides (Tuesday couples, Thursday women's, Saturday coffee, and Sunday relaxation rides) open to all skill levels.
