Buckskin Bikes began in 2008 as the Shadeland Bicycle Collective, a non-profit focused on advocacy and education, and transitioned to for-profit retail in 2012 to fill a gap in quality bicycle service in Anderson. The shop moved to its current Madison Ave location in January 2023. It carries Cannondale, Kona, Aventon, Surly, Gazelle, Denago, Rad Power, and other brands, and offers tune-ups, suspension service, bike fitting with ergonomic component selection, powdercoat restoration, welding and machining for custom racks and trailers, and certification on Bosch and Shimano e-bike systems. The shop serves any bike: new mountain bikes, old cruisers, frames handed down, or barn finds: with the same attention regardless of origin or price.
