Question 1

What is Body Geometry Fit and does The Bike Shop offer it?

Accepted Answer

Body Geometry Fit (BG FIT) is a comprehensive bike-fitting philosophy developed with Dr. Andy Pruitt of the Boulder Center for Sports Medicine, designed to help cyclists ride faster, longer, and with greater comfort while reducing injury risk. The Bike Shop offers Body Geometry Fit sessions by appointment, which include a 19-step physical assessment, bike positioning in a stationary trainer, and 15 step adjustments for hip/knee/foot alignment, priced at $250 with bike purchase or $350 standalone.

Question 2

Does The Bike Shop offer bike fitting without the full Body Geometry Fit service?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The shop offers free test ride adjustments for heel drop, seat height, and handlebar/lever angle without an appointment. It also provides Bike Sizing appointments (free with bike purchase or $90) that include leg extension assessment, saddle sizing, and stem rise/drop adjustments.

Question 3

Can The Bike Shop assemble and adjust a bike that arrives by mail?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The shop offers an Assemble & Adjust Bike Shipped in Box service for $145, which includes reassembly, wheel truing, brake adjustment, crankarm tightening, and derailleur adjustment. Customers should contact the store in advance to schedule an appointment, as the shop requires that bikes arriving by shipping be assembled by them.

Question 4

What are the costs to ship a bike to or from Hawaii through The Bike Shop?

Accepted Answer

Shipping from the US mainland to Hawaii typically runs $200 or more via FedEx 2nd Day Air depending on box size, weight, and origin; the shop recommends shipping at least one week before arrival. Shipping from Hawaii to the US mainland runs $150–$400 or more via FedEx Ground, with delivery to the west coast in 3–5 days and the east coast in 7–10 days.

Question 5

Does The Bike Shop offer bike packing and disassembly for shipping?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The shop provides two packing options: disassembly and packing in a customer-provided hard case for $90, or disassembly, packing in protective material, and a standard cardboard bike box (all materials provided) for $110. A $15 FedEx handling fee applies to both services.
