About
Rocktown Bicycles opened in the late 2010s (exact year not stated) when owner Ken Bell, a JMU graduate and longtime Harrisonburg resident who had produced cycling documentaries and supported the Virginia High School Mountain Bike Team, decided to pursue his childhood dream of opening a bike shop. Located at 50 South Mason St in Harrisonburg, the shop carries Specialized, Santa Cruz, Juliana, Shimano, and SRAM, and services all bicycle types. The staff: manager Adam Stein, mechanic Andrew Young, and owner Ken Bell: are accomplished cyclists themselves; the shop actively promotes local cycling initiatives including high school racing, cyclocross, road, mountain bike races, roller races, and group rides, and formally supports the Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Coalition, IMBA, NICA, and USA Cycling. A partner location, Blue Wheel Bikes, operates in Charlottesville.
