Founded in 1979 by Mark Pace, Pace Bicycle Haven has operated from its current Independence, Missouri location: a converted 1908 fire station one block west of the historic Amtrak station: since 1989. The shop builds custom complete bikes and wheels in-house, specializes in vintage road, track, ATB, and touring frames and NOS components from Campagnolo, Simplex, and T.A., and stocks hub gears from Sturmey-Archer, Sachs, SRAM, and Shimano alongside derailleur systems. Services include custom wheel building with asymmetric spoking designs, tandem and recumbent trike builds, and builds configured for leather saddles, drum brakes, and alternative drivetrain systems; the shop operates by appointment.
