Accepted Answer

Walk-ins are welcome and will be attended to as timely as possible. However, appointments are recommended for major service work to ensure prompt attention.

What is Orange Peel's policy for bikes left in the shop after service is complete?

Accepted Answer

Customers are notified by phone or email when service is finished, and bikes must be picked up within 10 days of that notification. After 10 days, a storage fee of $15 per day applies. Bikes left over 30 days will be considered abandoned and may be sold or disposed of. Longer storage arrangements can be made by request.

Will Orange Peel service bikes purchased elsewhere, and what is their warranty policy on outside parts?

Accepted Answer

The shop is happy to work on bikes and parts purchased elsewhere. However, Orange Peel is not obliged to exchange incorrectly purchased parts and cannot always assist with warranty claims on items bought outside the shop.

Orange Peel handles a wide range of bicycle repairs including vintage coaster brake overhauls, electronic shifting systems, suspension service, and disc brake work. The shop services most makes and models and can perform both standard tune-ups and à la carte services for specialized needs.

What is the history behind Orange Peel Bikes' distinctive building?

Orange Peel was established in 1999 in a small downtown space, then moved in 2005 to one of Steamboat's most iconic buildings—a unique structure built by Moots founder Kent Eriksen around a 30-foot cone-shaped sawdust incinerator from a local lumber mill and a repurposed ski lift tower. The shop recently relocated to Steamboat Basecamp on the west end of town as it enters its 25th year in business.
