Customers are notified by phone or email when service is complete, and bikes must be picked up within 10 days. After 10 days, a storage fee of $15 per day applies. Bikes left unclaimed for over 30 days may be sold or disposed of.

The shop is happy to work on bikes and parts purchased elsewhere. However, they are not obliged to exchange incorrect parts customers have purchased, and they cannot always assist with warranty claims on items bought elsewhere.

Orange Peel was established in 1999 in a 500-square-foot space at the back of a downtown Steamboat Springs building. In 2005, the shop moved to a one-of-a-kind structure built around a 30-foot-tall cone-shaped sawdust incinerator and repurposed ski lift tower. As of 2024, the shop relocated to a new space at Steamboat Basecamp on the west end of town.
