Question 1

What services does O'Grady Cycleworks specialize in?

Accepted Answer

The shop focuses on high-quality bike repair, assembly, and professional-level bike fitting. Services include tune-ups, wheel builds, suspension overhaul, cable and component replacement, and biodynamic bike fitting with cleat setup and alignment.

Question 2

Does O'Grady Cycleworks offer bike fitting, and how does it work?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Due to space constraints, the shop provides fitting services on-site at the customer's location rather than in-shop. Offerings include biodynamic bike fitting, cleat setup/alignment/wedging, and lift fitting.

Question 3

What is the owner's background and experience?

Accepted Answer

Gavin O'Grady is a veteran bicycle mechanic and fit technician with professional experience since the mid-1970s at shops across the country including locations in New Jersey, California, Wisconsin, and San Diego. He is a certified Shimano S-Tec mechanic, holds fitting certifications from Specialized and Trek, and was a professional racing cyclist from 1984–1991 with 50+ career victories and an Olympic Team Alternate selection in 1988.

Question 4

How should customers schedule service at O'Grady Cycleworks?

Accepted Answer

Appointments are recommended. Customers should call (503-312-4405), text, or email (ogradycycleworks@gmail.com) to discuss their bike needs and set up a service appointment. The shop will inspect the bike and provide an estimate including parts and timeframe upon inspection.

Question 5

What happens after a bike is serviced?

Accepted Answer

Bikes must be picked up within a few days of service completion due to storage constraints. Customers should keep their bikes reasonably clean when dropping them off to allow for proper inspection.

Question 6

Does the shop build custom bikes?

Accepted Answer

Yes. O'Grady Cycleworks offers custom bicycle design and consultation services, helping customers build custom bikes or optimize their existing setup based on geometry and ride-feel requirements.
