Founded in November 1972 as the Cross Country Ski Chalet by David Himmelman, Now Bikes added bicycles in spring 1973 and has operated in the Minneapolis: St. Paul area for nearly five decades. Paul Himmelman took over in 1976 at age 20, and co-owner Bob Sumada joined in 1978; the company now operates two locations in St. Paul and Arden Hills, each over 6,000 square feet. It carries Cannondale, Pinarello, Factor Bikes, Salsa, Cervelo, Santa Cruz, Scott, 3T, Orbea, Wahoo, and Tacx. Services include bike repair, professional fitting, and training; the shop hosts signature group rides including Tuesday Night Ride (Arden Hills) and Thursday Night Ride (St. Paul), and hosts vendor events such as Zipp demonstrations.
