Team Active was founded in May 1986 by Mike Wood, a Jackson native and former All-American runner who moved to Battle Creek with a triathlon background. The shop relocated to its current downtown location at 22 W. Michigan Ave. in October 1992. It carries Specialized, Cannondale, Salsa, Surly, 45nrth, Aventon, and related components (Shimano, SRAM, Teravail), and offers repairs, tune-ups, and bike fitting. The shop hosts an annual End of Winter Party (last Friday in February) that has drawn over 100 attendees and featured cycling personalities including Greg Herbold, Melissa Stockwell, and Frankie Andreu.
