Iowa Bike Co. traces its roots to 1977, when Marty Doane founded Marty's Schwinn Cyclery in Newton, Iowa. The business expanded in the 1980s as Iowa Bike and Fitness, opening a flagship location in Pella that became the core of operations. Current owner Kris Van Gent took over in 2017; the shop rebranded as Iowa Bike Co. in 2019. It carries Trek, Surly, and Sun bicycles alongside Greenspeed, Hase, and Sun recumbent trikes, with full mechanical service on all quality bikes and a custom-quote service model designed to match each bike's actual needs.
