Gear Up Velo is a family and rider-owned bike shop in Independence, Ohio, opened by Brian and Kate Rybak in 2021 after acquiring the location: a bike shop since the 1970s. Situated less than 1 mile from the Cuyahoga Valley National Park Towpath Trail, Lock 39, and Hemlock Trail, it carries Scott, Marin, Niner, Independent Fabrication, and Boyd Cycling frames, plus accessories from Continental, Garmin, Giordana, Pirelli, Silca, Tifosi, Vittoria, and Wahoo. Brian, a certified bicycle mechanic (USA Cycling Race Mechanics since 2007) and certified bike fitter (since 2012) with over 25 years in Cleveland-area shops, oversees mechanics and fitting; Kate handles sales and business operations. The shop offers bike fitting, repair work, and custom builds.
