Cumberland Transit opened in 1971 with 10 bikes in a copy-shop window and has grown into Nashville's oldest and largest locally-owned outdoors and adventure retailer. The shop carries Salsa, Surly, Teravail, Shimano, and SRAM, supporting gravel, bikepacking, and adventure cycling. Staff expertise spans decades, with owner Allen Doty since 1981 and Jason Thienel (staff since 2005) an active commuter cyclist and trail runner. The shop serves Nashville's outdoor community with a focus on connecting people to gear for new skills and adventures.
