Cross Country Ski Headquarters opened in 1974 as a ski rental business in Higgins Lake, Michigan, and expanded into a combined retail shop and groomed Nordic ski area. Founded by Bob and Lynne Frye and now run by their daughter Mariah and her husband Stu Colie, the shop carries one of the largest selections of Nordic ski equipment and clothing in North America, offers equipment fitting and rentals, and operates 18 kilometers of groomed classic and skate ski trails plus a snowshoe trail. Beyond retail, it hosts free Saturday beginner lessons, private instruction, weekend events (clinics, live music, barbecues), and a full lodge with restaurant and bar.
