Contender Bicycles was founded in 1987 as a local bike shop serving the suburbs of Salt Lake City. The current owner, Ryan, joined the shop while in high school and college and purchased it in 1999, relocating to the 9th & 9th neighborhood in Salt Lake City two years later. The shop built a custom-designed building in 2013 and opened a second location in Park City, Utah in 2018.
