Founded in 1979, The Bike Shack has operated as the Tri-State region's largest bicycle and fitness retailer, occupying over 10,000 square feet at 3250 Dodge Street in Dubuque, IA. Now under the ownership of Pam Schmitt-Lewey (daughter of founders Rick and Kathy Schmitt) and Dan Schmitt (longtime technician and nephew to the founders), the shop carries road, mountain, sport-comfort, hybrid, recumbent, BMX, tandem, juvenile, cruiser, and electric bikes from brands including Giant, Fuji, Gazelle, and Surly, alongside Shimano and SRAM components. All bikes are assembled by certified mechanics and include one year of free adjustments; the shop offers one-day repair service and provides free estimates on all work.
