Founded in 1973 when Joseph Scanga Sr. purchased a container of 320 imported bicycles and opened Import Bike LTD with his sons Michael, Joseph, and Ralph, the shop rebranded to The Bicycle X-Change in 1979 when it began accepting trade-ins. Operating two locations in Wichita (the main store at 908 W. Douglas Ave. and Recycling Headquarters at 1516 E. Central), it carries over 100 brands including Trek, Electra, Pinarello, Santa Cruz, Pivot, Fuji, Gazelle, Juliana, Breezer, and Rad-Power bikes. The shop is the largest Trek dealer in the Midwest with a certified Trek Fit Specialist (Patrick Scanga) on staff, offers Bosch-certified e-bike service, and provides 24-hour turnaround on most repairs.
