Founded in 1973 when Joseph Scanga Sr. purchased a container of 320 imported bicycles and opened Import Bike LTD with his sons Michael, Joseph, and Ralph, the shop rebranded to The Bicycle X-Change in 1979 when it began accepting trade-ins. Operating two locations in Wichita: the main store at 908 W. Douglas Ave. and Recycling Headquarters at 1516 E. Central: it carries over 100 brands including Trek, Electra, Pinarello, Santa Cruz, Pivot, Fuji, Gazelle, Juliana, Breezer, and Rad-Power bikes. The shop is the largest Trek dealer in the Midwest with a certified Trek Fit Specialist (Patrick Scanga) on staff, offers Bosch-certified e-bike service, and provides 24-hour turnaround on most repairs.
