Founded in 2012 by Robert and Cydne LaBonte, Bicycle Doctor occupies a converted 1938 service station at 1037 North 5th Street in Springfield, Illinois. Robert brings decades of cycling passion and mechanical experience from his earlier partnership in Pedal Power Cyclery (Rolla, Missouri) and two local Springfield shops; Cydne manages operations and community outreach. The shop carries Denago, Gazelle, Radio Flyer, Rad Power, and Shimano products. Bicycle Doctor is Bosch eBike Certified and offers general tune-ups, complete overhauls, wheel building (taught one-on-one), and custom e-bike modifications. The founders intentionally positioned the shop against the "boys club" atmosphere of the cycling industry, emphasizing personal service and community involvement over transactional retail.
