About

Basic Cycles, founded in the mid-1990s on 10th Street NW by Todd Ely, has returned to Charlottesville after a hiatus. Ely, a 40-year commuter and cycling advocate, runs the shop with a philosophy that bikes should fit customers, not the reverse, accommodating everything from high-performance racing bikes to children's training wheels. The shop serves the local bike community through repair and consulting services from its current Carlton Road location.
