Founded in 2006 in the Roaring Fork Valley, Basalt Bike & Ski merged with Cripple Creek Backcountry in 2022 to combine cycling and backcountry expertise. The shop operates six locations: Basalt, Carbondale, Aspen, Willits, Denver, and Seattle: and carries Specialized, Giant, Pivot, Santa Cruz, Yeti, Pinarello, Cervelo, Transition, and Open. Services include bike and ski rentals, repair and tuning (electronic shifting, e-bike motors and batteries, suspension), and specializes in e-bike selection alongside road, gravel, and mountain categories from hardtails to enduro and downhill.
