We-Cycle-USA is a nonprofit bicycle recycling center founded in 2008 by Robert Chacon, who began fixing bikes in his garage for vocational rehabilitation clients with disabilities. The organization opened its first Mesa community cycling center in 2010, and a second location in Mesa in October 2017 in partnership with CDP/El Rancho Community. We-Cycle-USA teaches bicycle safety, mechanical skills, and recycling through volunteer-staffed workshops where participants work on their own bikes with volunteer mechanic assistance. The shop provides recycled bicycles and consumable parts (tubes, tires, seats, pedals, brake pads, grips, lights, chains, cassettes, locks) to kids and adults in need through an earn-a-bike program requiring volunteer service hours.
