About
Washington County Bicycle Transportation Coalition, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit operating as WashCo Bikes since 1998, runs a community bicycle shop at 137 NE 3rd Ave. in Hillsboro. The organization promotes bicycle transportation, protects cyclists' rights, and improves cycling conditions through education, advocacy, and inclusive programs including bike repair clinics, skills and safety rodeos, learn-to-ride classes, the Adopt-a-Bike program, and Saddle Up Bike Camp. Executive Director Joe Kurmaskie leads initiatives to expand community shop presence countywide, create mechanics scholarships and internship programs, and develop new safety and education offerings.
