Question 1

What is the Body Geometry Fit service at Village Bike & Fitness, and how long does it take?

Accepted Answer

Village Bike & Fitness offers a comprehensive 1.5–3.0 hour fitting session that includes a rider profile interview, physical assessment of 25 body measurements (range of motion, flexibility, symmetry, core strength, foot structure), and cycling position analysis from both side and front views. The front-view analysis is unique to their Body Geometry Fit process and optimizes hip, knee, and foot alignment for balanced power delivery.

Question 2

What are the costs for a Body Geometry Fit, and is there a credit toward bike purchase?

Accepted Answer

Road or mountain bike fits cost $350; triathlon or time trial fits cost $400. Custom molded footbeds cost $350. If a customer purchases a bike over $5,000 within one month of their fit, the fit price is deducted from the bike purchase. For bikes under $5,000, half the fit price is credited. The fitting must be completed before bike purchase to receive credit.

Question 3

Does Village Bike & Fitness recommend getting a fit before or after purchasing a new bike?

Accepted Answer

The shop highly recommends getting a Body Geometry Fit before purchasing a bike, as it allows full assessment of the customer's body and accurate recommendations on model and size. The shop notes that while any bike can be modified to some degree, buying the wrong geometry or size will result in poor fit even with extreme modifications.

Question 4

What should customers bring to a fitting appointment, and are there scheduling options outside regular hours?

Accepted Answer

Customers should bring existing shoes, pedals, saddle, bike, riding clothes, towel, and water bottle. The shop recommends waiting to purchase new shoes, pedals, saddle, or components until after the fitting to avoid buying items that won't work with the fit specifications. Scheduling options vary by season and fitter; customers should call or email the store to discuss available times.

Question 5

Does Village Bike & Fitness offer financing options for bike purchases?

Accepted Answer

The shop currently offers 6 months financing available on bike purchases.

Question 6

What community programs or causes does Village Bike & Fitness support?

Accepted Answer

Village Bike & Fitness participates in the 'Put A Lid On It!' (PALOI) helmet safety program, a public service presented by Helen DeVos Children's Hospital and founded by the Grand Rapids Griffins in 2004. The program promotes helmet safety to elementary and middle school children throughout West Michigan through school and library poster distribution, ticket reward programs for helmet use, and helmet donations through Lids at the Library events.
