Question 1

What types of bikes does Third Wheel specialize in building?

Accepted Answer

Third Wheel builds custom bicycles designed around how each rider actually rides, with intentional frame and component selection throughout. The shop also restores used bikes to extend their life and modernize them, and offers custom modifications and overhauls for existing bikes.

Question 2

Does Third Wheel accept walk-in service, or is an appointment required?

Accepted Answer

Third Wheel operates on two service tracks: walk-in repairs are offered Friday and Saturday, 9am–5pm on a first-come, first-served basis for straightforward work like tuneups, brake adjustments, and flat fixes. More involved repairs, overhauls, and custom builds require an appointment by phone.

Question 3

What kind of community activities does Third Wheel offer?

Accepted Answer

Third Wheel hosts weekly social rides and maintains a shared Discord community for riders. The shop also provides a space for customers to hang out and have coffee, positioning itself as a welcoming gathering point for local cycling culture.

Question 4

What is included in Third Wheel's standard tuneup service?

Accepted Answer

The standard tuneup is $100 and includes a safety check, brake and shifting adjustments, tightening and lubrication, and wiping down the bike. A deluxe tuneup option at $175 adds ultrasonic parts cleaning, wheel truing, and protective coating.

Question 5

How does Third Wheel approach bike restoration differently from typical shops?

Accepted Answer

Third Wheel hand-selects used bikes to restore and modernize, focusing on keeping quality bikes out of landfills and back on the streets. The shop gives these bikes a second life through intentional work rather than treating them as bulk inventory.
