The Meteor was founded in October 2019 by Doug Zell (founder of Intelligentsia Coffee) and Chris St. Peter, a former attorney, both avid cyclists. The flagship Austin location on South Congress Avenue combines a cafe, natural wine shop, and bike shop with an outdoor patio; three additional locations opened in Bentonville, Dallas, and Fayetteville between 2023 and 2024. The bike shops carry Allied, Shimano, and Specialized, and serve experienced cyclists, newcomers, commuters, cruisers, and anyone who rides or aspires to ride.
