Ski Base opened in 1968 as Fernie's first ski shop, founded by Heiko and Linda Socher at the ski hill. The shop relocated downtown and is now owned by Jeff and Jane Johnson, long-time Fernie residents active in local trail building and the Fernie Freestyle Ski Club. It carries Kona, Salsa, Yeti, and Surly bikes alongside ski gear and apparel, offering bike tune-ups (Basic $150, Full $275), ski tuning, and online ordering with delivery across the Kootenays region.
