Founded in 1981 by Chaffin Rhyne in Lincoltton's Court Square, Ride-a-bike moved to historic downtown Gastonia in 2015 under current owner Brantley Smith, who purchased the business in 2011 after working there as a teen. The shop carries Marin, Jamis, Dahon, Aventon, and Batch bicycles alongside analog, electric, and used bikes, with a certified repair department. Beyond retail, Ride-a-bike hosts free weekly Tuesday group rides during Daylight Savings season, monthly mountain and gravel rides, weekly yoga classes in its upstairs loft, and a free monthly craft night.
