Pedals for Progress, based in High Bridge, NJ, is a nonprofit founded in 1991 that collects used bicycles and sewing machines from the United States and ships them to economic-development partners in developing countries. Since its founding, P4P has distributed 173,068 bicycles and 7,290 sewing machines across Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean. The organization operates collection drives across New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania, and maintains long-term partnerships with recipient organizations including FIDESMA in Guatemala, God Cares Outreach in Belize, and the Rwanda Wildlife Conservation Association.
