Opened in 1982, Outspokin' Bicycles was one of the first professional shops in the Southeast and an early Specialized and Trek dealer, introducing mountain bikes like the Stumpjumper to the region. Owner Brian Curran, who began as a sales associate in 1989 and purchased the shop in 1997, emphasizes staff diversity: employees range from category 1 road racers to casual trail riders, enabling the shop to serve both technical cyclists and newcomers. Located in Columbia's Five Points neighborhood and with a second location in Irmo, the shop carries Trek, State Bicycle Co., Bontrager, Saris, and Garmin, and offers professional bike fitting (owner is Trek Level 2 and F.I.S.T. certified), USCF-certified mechanics, wheel building, and services across road, mountain, cyclocross, triathlon, and commuter categories.
