Question 1

What motor and battery brands does Oregon E-Bikes service?

Accepted Answer

The shop is Bosch certified and can troubleshoot and repair motors, batteries, displays, and electrical components from Bosch, Brose, and Shimano. For e-bikes with other motor or battery brands, the shop is currently unable to perform electrical repairs, though it does offer flat tire repair on nearly all bikes, electric and non-electric.

Question 2

How quickly will an e-bike be ready after dropping it off for service?

Accepted Answer

Oregon E-Bikes cannot guarantee same-day turnaround on service appointments. The shop can provide an educated estimate of timeline, though technicians may discover additional service needs once the bike is in the stand, and parts availability can affect completion time. Customers are encouraged to contact the shop to discuss urgent needs.

Question 3

Does Oregon E-Bikes offer e-bike rentals?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the shop offers e-bike rentals and customers can book through its website or by calling (541) 386-6086.

Question 4

What was the origin story behind Oregon E-Bikes?

Accepted Answer

The shop was founded by Steve Gates, who purchased an e-bike while undergoing chemotherapy to help him continue riding Hood River's hilly roads and trails. His family members subsequently wanted their own e-bikes for touring, cargo hauling, and trail riding, which inspired Gates to start the business. Gates brings 30 years of experience from the watersport industry through his sister company, Big Winds.

Question 5

Does Oregon E-Bikes organize group rides or clinics for the community?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the shop hosts Bike Safety Sundays featuring free clinics, safety checks, and fit assessments, as well as group rides and clinics listed on its event calendar. It also offers the Ride Happy Academy with short tutorials on e-bike maintenance.
