Newark Bike Project began in 2011 as a volunteer-run community repair shop dedicated to making cycling accessible and sustainable in Newark, Delaware. Located at Newark Shopping Center (Suite 323, 230 E Main St), it operates with shared professional tools and volunteer mechanics, welcoming riders of all skill levels. The shop has refurbished over 6,000 bikes and assisted more than 4,000 people with repairs across five locations. Funding comes from used-bike sales, donations, grants, and parts sales; DIY mechanic-assisted repair appointments cost $15 per hour plus parts and run Monday: Thursday 4:45: 7 p.m. by appointment.
