High Gear Bicycle Shop was founded in 1976 by Steve Alward and Doug Brawly as Back Street Bicycle Works in a rented garage, relocating to its current location on Sheldon and Mount Vernon after decades of growth. Now operated by Steve and Cindy Alward, the shop carries Cannondale, Trek, Electra, and Shimano, and services almost all bike makes and models from flat-tire fixes to complete overhauls, with tune-ups ranging from $49: $139.
