Front Yard Bikes began in 2010 when LSU student Dustin Lafont started teaching neighborhood kids bike repair on his front lawn in South Baton Rouge; it has grown to two locations and serves over 400 youth. The shop operates free after-school and summer programs focused on teaching youth mechanics, workforce skills, and responsibility through hands-on work in the bike shop, Friday community rides, gardening, welding, and academic tutoring partnerships. While the directory notes Rad Power availability, the primary mission is youth development and community impact rather than retail cycling.
