Front Yard Bikes began in 2010 when LSU student Dustin Lafont started teaching neighborhood kids bike repair on his front lawn in South Baton Rouge; it has grown to two locations and serves over 400 youth. The shop operates free after-school and summer programs focused on teaching youth mechanics, workforce skills, and responsibility through hands-on work in the bike shop, Friday community rides, gardening, welding, and academic tutoring partnerships.
