Founded in fall 1982 by Erwin and Joan Grant with Richard and Debra Himmewlright, Freemans Bridge Sports has operated in Scotia, NY for over 40 years. The shop was built on a combination of Grant's business experience and the founders' passion for cycling. In 2024, Jacob Kahler (Richard and Debra's nephew) took over ownership with plans to maintain the family operation and the shop's service standards. The shop carries road, gravel, mountain, hybrid, electric, and kids' bikes, offering bike repair, new bike assembly, test rides, and expert sales consultation.
