Question 1

What is Falls City Community BikeWorks' mission and structure?

Accepted Answer

Falls City Community BikeWorks is a 501(c)(3) non-profit community bike shop founded in 2014. The shop aims to empower people to make bicycling more practical and sustainable, provide a well-equipped workshop where community members can maintain their own bicycles, and share bicycle maintenance and repair skills.

Question 2

How does the DIY repair model work at this shop?

Accepted Answer

The shop is staffed by volunteer mechanics who teach visitors how to repair or improve their own bikes. Customers have access to bike tools, supplies, and parts during open shop hours, with guidance available from volunteers rather than a traditional paid repair service model.

Question 3

What services and inventory does the shop offer?

Accepted Answer

Falls City Community BikeWorks offers DIY repair access, tool use, advice from volunteer mechanics, and sells used bike parts. The shop provides a well-equipped workshop environment for hands-on bicycle maintenance rather than full-service repairs.

Question 4

Is the shop open year-round with consistent hours?

Accepted Answer

The shop observes seasonal hours; winter hours are reduced compared to other seasons. Customers should verify current hours before visiting, as the shop has adjusted its schedule in the past and posts updates on its website and social media.

Question 5

How did the shop's recent relocation affect its operations?

Accepted Answer

Falls City Community BikeWorks relocated in April 2026 to a larger space at 716 Logan Street after 11 years at a previous location. The new facility allows the shop to elevate its services and offer more resources to the community.
